Review on πŸͺŸ BDF S05 Heat Control Daytime Privacy One Way Mirror Window Film Silver 5 - Enhanced home privacy and temperature regulation by Rebecca Inman

I was amazed at how effectively this film dissipates heat. For some it may just be too dark.

I live in an attic apartment and have a pretty weak air conditioning system that costs a hell of a lot in the summer. I have a large sliding glass door in my living room and a large window in my bedroom. Needless to say, both of these help raise the heat in my house to extremely uncomfortable levels, and the air conditioner has to work really hard to keep the living room at a comfortable level. So I needed something to reflect the sun. I've been exploring a few DIY options and things like tinfoil daddies to stick in my window. But I still wanted to be able to see from them. So I bought a roll of this film big enough to fit in my sliding glass door. And WOW! Doesn't matter! It's the difference between day and night in the warmth that seeps into my living room! I'm not joking when I say that you hardly feel the heat coming through this film. But don't get me wrong, the heat still comes through, but at a much, much lower level. The air conditioning shouldn't work that hard if it works at all. And if I put a window fan in there to suck out all the heat that's coming in, it sucks out quickly. We had an early 80 degree day not too long ago and I didn't even have to think about turning on the air. The sun can enter my house as much as it wants and it stays comfortable or close 90% of the time. I was so pleased with this product that about a week later I bought another roll for my bedroom and got the same results. A small window fan in combination with this film provides cooling. Or at least much cooler than without a film. Two MINUS: The film can be applied to large areas, such as e.g. B. Sliding glass doors, cumbersome to install yourself. If you have to do it yourself, make sure you measure and cut your film properly, and make sure your windows are spotless, and use a spray bottle to dampen both the window and the film. Keep both as moist as possible. Otherwise, if the foil touches a dry spot, you'll regret it, as it's not easy to just remove it for a quick fit if you make a mistake, and most likely the foil will wrinkle and wrinkle. Secondly, the film is quite durable. dark. I have provided a photo of my sliding glass door so you can try it out and see the difference in how much light this material blocks. On a bright, sunny day, it's nice to keep the light at bay. But even with a little overcast, it's difficult to tell if the sun is shining at all. It almost looks and feels like looking outside on a gray rainy day. Therefore, this material may be too dark for some people. I personally love having it in my bedroom. Keeps the sun out of my room like a nuclear bomb just exploded, but bright enough to wake up peacefully without burning my eyes. finally move!

Pros
  • EXCELLENT DAY PRIVACY. Provides more intended privacy only during daytime; At night, the mirror effect is reversed because there is more light inside than outside. The side with the most light has a mirrored appearance.
Cons
  • Some shortcomings
