Excellent solution for hiding cables
I have a photo light on the portrait and I didn't want to see how the string was hanging underneath. I've looked at battery powered lighting fixtures, but didn't like the idea of constantly changing batteries. I bought two of these and put one behind the picture and the other at the bottom next to the socket. I routed the cord through the wall panel behind the painting and dropped the cord onto another wall panel where I pulled the cord out and plugged it into the socket next to it. Now the cord is completely hidden and the light is set on a timer in the socket so I never have to touch it.
