Tucking the scarf in the bottom of my pocket fits my tiny 2 lb Maltese just fine. Otherwise it would be too deep and she could hardly hang her head over the hole. I feel safe with her in it, even though the scarf supports her. She also feels safe in it and even takes a little nap when we are not at home. The fabric is a bit thick, with a silky interior, so if your dog is as hot as my baby, it might be a bit warm. Overall a great product that is worth the money!
