First of all, I literally make a living developing reinforced (optical) connectors for outdoor use. They have several design flaws: 1) The fit of the cast threads between the centerbody and the end caps is quite poor, allowing for cross threads unless great care is taken during assembly. 2) Rubber washer seal used in this connection. in 1 above is very sensitive to overtightening. Too little torque and it doesn't seal completely. Excessive torque will cause the seal to expand radially, leading to gaps and subsequent water ingress. Well-designed connectors use an O-ring that seals the inside diameter of the hole. Using an o-ring requires consistent moldings with reasonable tolerances, which is probably why these connectors don't use this type of seal (because the quality of the moldings is not high). However, if you use silicone dielectrics extensively, lubricate them with extreme care, and assemble them, they should be fine for non-critical applications. I wouldn't trust them in underground applications where they may be underwater from time to time, only above ground.
