I have a hard time fitting my 2.5 year old son. The padding in the thumb piece is turned inside out or twisted so he can't put his hand in properly which is very frustrating for everyone. We actually just tucked his whole arm into the other side of the mittens, to keep him warm. Maybe he'll get better with time, but I don't think you're ideal for a very young child. My 4 year old daughter has no problem with it and loves wearing it. I increased it to the next size and I think I had to do that for my son because he is almost the same size as his sister.
