Review on 🔒 Enhanced Safety with Cardinal Gates Stairway Special Gate in Sleek Black Design by Bridgette Andrada

Very disappointed with the quality control of this gate model. We have two metal exterior gates that work great and work as expected so we had no hesitation in ordering three of these wooden gates. Unfortunately, the latches on all three are useless. We couldn't even fit pieces of all three together to do a job. One gate also had a long crack in its wooden frame. The photos show how poorly constructed the breech is, everything is bent and welded at an angle. The plastic grommets also wouldn't stay in the eyebolts, causing the gate to get stuck when trying to move it up and down to lock and unlock it. Even with the best combination of parts, there was still a large gap between the bottom pin and the bracket it was inserted into, and all the load was on the top pin and bracket. I didn't like it because if I shake the gate the bottom can jump out and if a child is hanging from it the whole load just falls on the top. I've included a picture of one of our metal gates to show what the hardware should look like. Everything is square, straight, correctly aligned and moves without binding. It's really frustrating and disappointing because if everything were made to good standards it would be great from every angle, but as it is we can just pull and open it without using the locking hardware. This batch is not safe or good to use. Even though they are made in China, with quality control they can be great goals. In fact, if these wooden gates had the same high quality hardware as our metal gates, they would be the best children's gate we have ever had. over the years, including the expensive Munchkin gate. Especially with the wide range of openings they cover without interfering with baseboards or flooring, as well as work on sloping walls. I will update my review after contacting customer service to see how they resolve this issue. Hopefully they offer quality gates like the first two we've even bought. If so I will upgrade my rating to reflect that.
