Review on 🎨 Winsor & Newton Cotman Water Colour Paint Compact Set: 14 Half Pans for Artists by Carla Anderson

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Disgusting palette design but great water colors. Some misleading color information is included.

Finally, after several months of speculation, I've decided to buy my own pair of panties. I've only used white nights and found myself using more expensive paint for simple exercises. Ready to use right out of the box, Cotman paints have excellent buildability and vibrant colors, and the cuvettes are fairly easy to activate and rewet. One thing I hate is the palette. For the life of me I can't get the pans to stay firmly on the pallet so I resorted to duct tape to hold them in place but even then some of the pans were uneven. Star deducted for the colors included too, I bought this set specifically for the Paynes Permanent Rose and Gray which are included as per the pictures. But instead it came with a purple varnish and burnt umber as a replacement. I would prefer a permanent pink and Payne's gray for mixing colors. The Cotman Series 3 water cup and brush are more of a novelty in my opinion, but I think they would be excellent for quick outdoor sketches. I don't understand why Cotman colors are usually ignored by so many youtubers and blick & jerrys reviews online, they are beautiful colors with almost no bleach. Most of them are not true mono pigments, but if you are a beginner you will hardly notice the difference. For less than $20, you can't go wrong with a set of 14 halves, a beautiful complementary split palette.

Pros
  • Cotman water color has good transparency, excellent color strength and good processing properties.
Cons
  • Exorbitant piggy bank
