I wear white undershirts beneath, well, pretty much everything. So I understand the goal is not necessarily to find the absolutely nicest white shirt you can, but instead to find a shirt that's comfortable, durable, and affordable enough to buy in bulk. With that in mind, I think these Gildan shirts work well enough. The fabric is certainly very soft and comfortable, yet it is also fairly thin. You *could* wear the white shirt on its own, but I think it's intended to be worn beneath something else. After washing these and wearing them, my only reservation is that the collar and the ends of the sleeves seem a little more snug than I prefer. They do stretch, and perhaps they'll stretch out over time. But for now, they're just a little less than ideal. However, I do like the length of these shirts. They're not excessive, but they are long enough to tuck into pants comfortably. The construction seems good, and I'm glad to put these into rotation.
