Review on Enhance Your SmartThings Setup with Z Wave Repeater Extender by Victor Ceja

Revainrating 2 out of 5

Does not meet current Z-Wave standards

Dude, that's a strange thing. When I bought it, at first I thought it wasn't working properly. It connected to my Hubitat hub, and when I sent a command to turn the device on or off, the light on the front changed accordingly, but the connected lamp didn't come on. I sent it back and exchanged it for another one. . It happens, maybe I just got a defective product. No, the other one did that too. It wasn't until I looked closely that I realized the light was on, but very, very dim. I tried giving a command to set the brightness to 100% - the device didn't do anything, it's still super dark. After reading the poorly translated instructions, I found that you can set the minimum and maximum brightness level manually on the dimmer. Except you had to follow a cryptic series of key presses to set those values. So I followed the instructions which say you first set the brightness to the minimum and then to the maximum. That does not work. So I tried it differently - first I set the maximum brightness, and then the minimum. I was FINALLY able to get the dimmer to work, turn it on and off and adjust the brightness from my hub. YOU SET THE MAXIMUM BRIGHTNESS TO 1 OF 100 STANDARD! I'm only giving it 2 stars because after all the hassle to set it up and despite its issues, it actually works. I can turn the light on and off and dim it, but I definitely won't be buying another one until Eva Logic packs her stuff. It's terrible. Buy something else.

Pros
  • Dimmable from 10% to 100% - manual and remote controllable, scheduled on/off, reduces energy costs and extends lamp life.
Cons
  • There are new competitors
