My original goal was to get HDMI out of SNES Classic Mini, split audio and video, optically output audio to external Sound Blaster E5 and stream video to a Dell 22" DVI monitor. After you bought another device for the same task (and it failed miserably), this audio extractor will get the job done. It's no problem to connect the HDMI output with a passive HDMI->DVI Converter to convert to a DVI signal I sometimes have problems with audio not working - the solution is to turn off the converter and the HDMI input connection at the same time, wait 5 seconds, then connect the power first, then the HDMI is it good for if i want to play and someone else is watching tv in the living room i can go to my home office and have fun there instead. :)
