Soft and thick. Ordered a size larger based on other reviews. My kid usually wears 5t and I ordered 8. They are big but not too big. my child loves her And the pockets are big enough to fit everything in. I would buy them again. I immediately ordered a second set. My only criticism of the first set was that the maroon couple quickly became very unnerving. However, I like them so much that I bought a second set.
