Quality product, works exactly as expected - requires a slight learning curve and patience

Overall - I was very pleased with the quality of the product. Basically, what is described is what you get. It takes a little patience until the first drums get the hang of it. Especially part of the frame customization process. The device makes setup pretty easy for you, but that's just the way the film has to be fed through the scanner. Since you're actually watching decades-old film that can break, etc., you'll find that after about 20 frames, that's not the case when you think the alignment is right. Plus breaks in the film or other places where the film has been spliced, it's hanging, etc. This is a project that runs in the background while you're around to check from time to time. BEST TIP / RECOMMENDATION FOR REWINDING THE FILM: Well, I didn't have the patience for the machine to rewind. Just slow, hard work, swapping drums, and it takes a long time. TRY THIS TO RUN BACK EVERYONE ASAP - Avoid writing instructions together! - Leave the film as it is after scanning. Make sure the film is fed all the way through the device (the free end hangs on the right spool). Feed the film back onto its original spool (on the left side of the machine - you may need to remove this spool to run it properly and latch onto this spool and then reinstall it onto the machine. You'll see how you want to guide the film Foil around the handles that help stretch the foil properly - I would use one of the lower right ones and then feed it to the left one under where the original spool hangs). Oh, in principle you can turn off the device - it doesn't have to be turned on. For example, use a short but strong little rod or 3-4 inch wooden nail whose tip can be inserted into the original spool, and then essentially start spinning that spool around and around and running film on it. any one you use for this because it's round so it spins very smoothly. After some practice I was able to wind a 3 inch spool in about 20-25 seconds. That's all. Swap that coil for the next one to scan and you're done! Hope that helps! Much luck! A FEW TIPS: 1) I didn't change any contrast/brightness settings, the default was fine. You can also find the same yourself. 2) Depending on the condition of your film/rolls, you may want to clean the film of dust/dirt before running it through the process as all of this affects the final product. 3) You might want to keep one of those keyboard/computer compressed air bottles handy and just blow on the scanner platen after each film in case hair/dust/dirt gets into the scanned area. Project: I am very happy with your product and have scanned ALL of the 100+ Super 8 reels my parents made years ago. It was actually my first time seeing these films and since both of my parents passed away a few years ago it was a very special project for me and my family. Thanks very much !
