Review on ๐ŸŽฎ Glorious GMMK Compact Size Mechanical Gaming Keyboard - 61 Key - RGB LED Backlit, Brown Switches, Hot Swap Switches (Black) - GMMK-Compact-BRN by Adam Jackson

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Very comfortable and reliable modular keyboard

TKL model with brown switches. What's good: - No key bouncing. (double key press / failed debouncing) - Floating key design. This keyboard is easy to clean! The hot-swap switch sockets work as advertised. Includes keycaps and switch pullers. A rectangular USB adapter is included. Detachable USB cable included. . I would like to travel with him. Very light for its size. (good for traveling) - Funny animated LED modes. Bad: - Thin standard ABS caps. ABS lids become shiny over time. - Several screws were over tightened, which warped the case and caused key return issues in the bottom left corner and around the spacebar. I loosened the screws a bit to fix this. Only the top of the keyboard is aluminum. The lower part is made of plastic - Conspicuous echo/noise when typing through the hollow body. It's not as bad as the Massdrop CTRL, maybe because of the plastic on the bottom. Cheap, noisy stabilizers. I recommend replacing them with good quality GMK plate stabilizers immediately. Neutral: Accessible screws. I haven't tried it, but it looks like I could easily open the case if I wanted to. Before my modifications: - Normal stabilizers were noisy, but they worked - The board was equipped with brown Gateron switches - The key in the kit, the caps were thin ABS. My improvements: - Removed all stabilizers. None used at all - Aliaz switches with 35g springs (springs replaced) - Translucent keycaps, for beauty. I like quiet but tactile keyboards and type lightly. Aliaz switches with 35g springs feel like tapping on clouds! I could use GMK stabilizers, but when using "quiet" switches I prefer no bumps for minimal noise. This means I use the 2u R1 cap for the spacebar. (e.g. longer '0' key on the number pad) Conclusion: I bought the GMMK because I needed a TKL board with hot swappable connectors to fetch the switches. I've used it for gaming, development and everything else with no problems. It's been a very reliable keyboard for a few months, although I only use it when testing new types of switches or when I need nice animated lights. (The latter is more common these days) Tip: This is a great all-purpose keyboard. Instead of having to buy different keyboards with different switches, this keyboard allows you to try different switches at a much lower price. It is noisy when delivered, but this can be improved by replacing parts. This board is for mods if you want! If you do decide to swap out stabilizers, I highly recommend using only GMK plate-mount stabilizers. Please be careful when replacing switches. Make sure the pins are straight before you insert them, otherwise they will bend and flatten as you insert them into the board. If you bent any of the switch pins during installation, use pliers to gently bend/straighten them and reinsert them. They will be fine. :)
