I bought this product to use with Melafix (also from API). If you use Melafix, it is recommended that you remove the carbon filter and clean the water for 7 days in a row and then do a water change. You must use an ammo block to prevent ammonia from building up during this time. All my fish died by day 3. The API told me I had too many fish and the ammonia exploded (they didn't even know what type/size of fish I had or what type/size of filter I was using in my tank). I told them I use their ammo lock so it can't be ammonia. They said I didn't have the right fish for my tank (again, all they know is that they're cichlids and dead). API products are terrible for your fish and the company doesn't endorse them. They lie to hide their mistakes. Please please please do not use their products. Read the negative reviews of their products and you will find an alarming number of cases where their products have killed fish.
