The clamp doesn't work - it can't be adjusted

Swift should be pressed against the table by screwing a long threaded wooden dowel into the hole. But since the hole is unthreaded, THIS DOES NOTHING. I'm assuming it's a defective block as the manufacturer probably knows that the hole needs to be tapped as well for this thing to work! I was going to return it but I need it NOW so my husband got some clamps from the garage for us to use to secure it to the table. Looks bad but works. But it's a HUGE crap. Very disappointing.
