Yes, it has some plastic parts, but they're not the kind that break easily unless you throw them away.
Works well with staples, I've needed them for a long time. I bought it because it said it fits both staples and staples. When I finally had to put the moldings in and switch to the bars, it fired one or two and then the push rod holding tension on the struts slipped past and prevented the struts from being fed. Now I have to buy a better one.
