I had a good 1-2 inch mechanism

We run the ceiling fan in the living room 100% of the time, usually at a low speed. After adding a light kit I had a good 1-2 inches of travel. They removed 99% of the movement on the low. Medium and fast (which we don't use very often) helped, but be sure to order more weight if you're moving heavily.
