I sometimes have overflows from an old wall drain for my washing machine. This is the only product I have been able to find that will turn off the power when water is detected. I've attached a video where I tested it on the stovetop before installing it on the washing machine. You can see it takes enough water to trip the circuit breaker and sound the alarm. As you can see in the picture of the legs of the water detection disk (upside down), each leg has a short piece of plastic on the bottom. Water must climb over this plastic on two legs for the device to work, so leaks that spread quickly on level ground may go undetected. The plug is huge! See photo compared to a water bottle. Your electrical plug will stick out further, so keep that in mind if you're short on space. It works as advertised. I would give it 5 stars if the wall plug was smaller and I wish they would do that with a band sensor like you see on the plumber shut off mechanisms.
