Review on Medium Olive Wood Nativity Animals by Brent Cole

Maybe too sensitive for children. Good customer service.

My kids got this Christmas set as a gift at my request because I wanted them to have a solid Christmas set that I could easily play with and rearrange/move around with a more durable set for that purpose (maybe a larger set from this company or one of the sets from Haba). Whilst the set is VERY pretty I don't think it is strong enough to be used as a children's set unless the children are perhaps much older and can be very gentle (in which case even delicate materials would be acceptable). Baby Jesus is very small and thin (extremely delicate) which surprised me because the tree looks much fatter in the picture. If I let my kids play with this set, I don't expect baby Jesus to stay whole for long (and my kids tend to be very gentle/respectful with their toys). Another thing to consider if you have small children in the house, Jesus could easily climb through a tube of toilet paper and would be a definite choking hazard for any child who can put something in their mouth (this is not a problem for me, but what to consider if very young children are around). The set we received was not in perfect condition. The wood is untreated, therefore unprotected, as a result the wood was very dry and two parts, Joseph and the shepherd, had the wood cracked/split. I emailed the seller about damaged items and was surprised by the very quick response (someone replied to me within minutes). They were very helpful and offered to send me parts to replace the damaged figures. In the end I think I'll use this adult set instead of the kids set and look for something more permanent for my kids. However the set is very superbly carved and given the beauty of the items and willingness to help customer service I would recommend this set or any other from this company. I intend to order more products from this company in the future.
