I was restoring my dad's old Zuma and found that the brass and rubber 90 degree valve stem was completely ripped off at the base and only letting air through. Honestly had no idea about the size but bought it anyway as there only seem to be a few different sizes but it worked out in the end. If you have a moped/motorcycle tire you can easily do this yourself. I bought several tire calipers from Port Freight for about $6 each and did it all in less than 5 minutes the first time which was a shock. - Deflate the tire, if your old stem is broken, simply rip it out and deflate. - Break the bead on the tire just around the valve stem area to gain access underneath. - Remove the inside of the old valve stem, etc. - Apply a little silicone grease to the inside and outside of the stem bore - Install the new stem. (You will need a wrench to tighten, and be careful not to over-twist the head into an unusable position.) - Apply pressure to the contact patch of the tire rubber to push it back into place as firmly as possible.- The air blower did the rest and brought it back. No tape is required on the tire. This is my experience and your mileage will vary, but don't make it seem like a daunting task. Totally doable and you have the pride and satisfaction of doing it yourself and also knowing how to do it.
