Our son is 3 years old and has autism. I know this product is for babies but since it is "runaway" it works great for him! He started crawling out of his crib about 6 months ago. For those who don't have autistic children or an "autistic" belief system, he has a cognitive delay such that by 12 to 18 months he was probably able to physically crawl out of his crib, but he was able to stay in it. so he never tried to get out until he was about 3 years old. Of course, once he realized he could get out, he NEVER stayed in his crib. So at this point he stayed up all night wandering around the house. Yes, we have high performance alarm systems installed in our home. Again, unless you have a frame of reference for autistic children, they usually don't sleep well. They have a hard time falling asleep without melatonin supplements, and even then have trouble sleeping. So if he's not sleeping, none of us are sleeping. We bought the same zippered mesh tent (cot size) for his crib about 6 months ago and it has changed our lives! He didn't like it for the first week or so but it kept him SECURE and allowed my husband and I to sleep without worrying about him getting out of his crib. When we travel with our kids it is always so exhausting because he no longer likes new places or gets out of his routine let alone sleeping in a regular bed. So I went looking for a similar tent for our game and found this one! Same brand as the one we bought for our crib. It is well made, fits snugly to the mattress, stays in place. Now my son loves it and actually comes in at night and pulls me in there to close it. He doesn't speak. So we just traveled for the first time with a new mesh tent for our backpacking game and he had no problem sleeping at night because it is familiar to him and protects him! We love this product!
