I give 4 stars because I am satisfied with the quality of the product. I measured my dog and bought the large because the size chart indicated the large size should fit his size. However, it is long for the wearer (see photo). I think these things just aren't made for longer dogs and in fact, dachshunds only have to spend a limited amount of time in this type of carrier because of their backs. In any case, the product is well made and will definitely fit a small dog. I plan on keeping the stretcher and buying some stuff to modify for him so I can carry him when needed (he gets tired when we go for walks/hike and he is 12 years old). I would recommend getting your dog a size larger than the measurements suggest. Or make sure the measurements have several inches of leeway for comfort and a snug fit. If you're willing to make modifications to it to fit your dog, like I intend to do, it's well made for the price and will serve as a good base for customizing your dog. She also had a hole for her cock, which I find funny! Even if you're wondering what your dog might think of sitting in this thing. My dog is "scared" and nervous by nature, but he didn't seem to mind sitting in it and seemed quite content overall. I think he felt safe. something like thunder shirts work. But even if your dog is a bit nervous like mine, it might be worth a try! I was wrong when I thought he hated it.
