I installed a factory amped stereo in my 1998 Mercedes SL500. After connecting the speaker wires from the radio to the vehicle wiring harness, the lowest volume setting was too loud. So I connected the speakers to the RCA line jacks instead and the volume was very low (the line outs were only 2 amps). I searched the internet for help then went to two radio installation shops and no one knew what to do. After a little more research on the web, I found out that this lineout converter was specifically designed to address this problem. It was very easy to install and fix the problem! The gain control gave me a perfect volume calibration and the sound came out great. My only gripe with this is that it's a bit large to fit behind some dash panels, but it can still be invisibly mounted under the dash with longer speaker cables.
