Review on ๐Ÿ–ฅ๏ธ SanDisk Extreme Portable V2 2TB External SSD, USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C, Color: Black by Boyan Ignjatovic แ Œ

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Nice price, good quality.

To avoid being tied down to any one computer, I took a disk with the Ubuntu operating system on it to use at work. It does what it's supposed to, and it does it quickly. Since this is my first time using an external disk in this fashion, I'm not sure what kind of temperature it will run at, and there's no way for me to tell because Linux utilities (hddtemp, smartctl) don't support S. M. A. R. T. This disk appears to maintain a temperature within the specified range (up to 70 ยฐ C), at least as judged by touch. However, it's very evident that physical contact is not the issue here. After inquiring with Sandisk's customer service team, I learned that the company's Sandisk Dashboard program is availableโ€”but only on Windows. I attempted to install it on Ubuntu using wine, and while the installation succeeded, the program window itself is dark when launched (however clicking anywhere within the window area took me to the Sandisk website). I am currently unable to configure the program under Ubuntu. Likewise, the Windows version of the program does not show temperature readings. As a drive, I think the disk is generally satisfactory. If you're wondering why I can't yet determine the disk's hardware temperature, it's because I haven't figured it out. Reduced rating solely because of insufficient S. M. A. R. T. support, which necessitates workarounds and causes user discomfort.
