I used it to find out what fault codes my car was giving before taking it to the shop. I was able to fix what wasn't my fault and leave the rest to the experts. That alone saved me some money and saved me a lot of guesswork. The package includes a reader, a mini USB cable, an OBD-II port connection cable and a user manual. There is an AutoVIN mode to identify the vehicle as well as the engine and associated equipment. OBDII mode for system tests, trouble code diagnosis, settings, data manager for saved readings and software update screen. You just plug it into the socket and turn on the car's ignition, but the engine doesn't work. Follow the on-screen instructions depending on which mode you want to start. I had the smaller, less powerful version and would wholeheartedly recommend it over the smaller scanner. This allows you to clear codes and save records.
