Review on Effortless Control: Westinghouse Lighting 7787500 Wireless Ceiling Fan and Light Wall Control by Huntsville Rawson

Great for my situation, yours may be different

This little device was a life saver to solve the sheer stupidity of the original builders of my home! For some reason every room in my house has a switch on the door that controls the outlet in the room, not the ceiling fans. I needed a way to control both the fan and the light on the fan without running extra wires through walls and without having to install a dual box for an extra switch. This device solved my problem. It uses the power at its location to send a wireless signal to a receiver mounted in the base of the fan, which then tells the fan or light to turn on/slow down/dim etc. The only problem is that the switch at the bottom must be "on" for it to work as a remote control. If you're in a situation like mine where the switch you replaced was controlling the outlet, that outlet is now controlled by the switch underneath it. This could be an issue depending on your situation, but for me it's a minor setback. Installing the transmitter (wall switch) is the same as replacing any other switch. A basic understanding of electrical systems is all that is required. However, getting a receiver among the fans is a problem. My wife and I spent some time assembling it properly and putting the fan back on the bracket. It fits very tight and you NEED two people to install the fan.
