Initially I was very happy to get this microwave rice cooker. I used a similar one a year ago and it was much nicer. I was given a stove and we decided to cook rice for dinner that night. I followed the rice/water recipe that came with the cooker and adhered to the timings. The result is a hard slice of rice. I literally banged it on the counter and nothing broke. Okay, I thought maybe the recipe is wrong. I'm a chef so I know my measurements were correct. I tried again, this time following the microwave directions on the rice itself. This time the rice was hard and overcooked on the bottom and undercooked on the top and hard on the inside. I watched it cook and even with the vent fully open the plastic was warping in the heat and the seal was broken and steam was escaping out the side instead of the vents and instead of cooking my rice. I gave up and just cooked it in the pot as usual and it came out great. product disaster.
