With nearly a dozen pairs of Altras in all different styles, it wasn't difficult to buy one for yourself. Last year he was running cross country in a pair of LP4.5s and he loved them so I bought him these for his summer camp stay where hiking shoes were a must. They're waterproof and have a nice lugged outsole, but are still light and flexible to wear all day without leg fatigue, which was a big plus. I've had the LP4 RSM for 2 years which he really likes but they're no longer on sale so he went with these. He loves them and wears them all the time. I also have a couple of LP5 basses which are great too. Definitely 110% recommend.
