Convenient but no performance boost on older devices

Allows me to connect a portable external hard drive directly to my 2020 MacBook Pro without a hub. I used the BlackMagic Speed Test with two different drives and the read and write performance was the same when connected to my docking station via USB 3 and when connected directly to a MacBook with this cable. So it's fine if I'm carrying an external drive for backup or video but don't want to carry a hub around, but it's no faster. Still 5 stars as it works as it should and delivers the widest bandwidth my devices are capable of.
