Faulty connectivity
Timing issues with different cables and adapters. I suspect this is because you add multiple connection points along the signal path and those connection points reduce the signal strength enough that the connection is lost. In any case, I tried several plugs with different cables and all had an uneven connection. Individual cables without an adapter worked perfectly. I decided to try these out instead of a single right angle cable just to see, but I needed to know. If you need a right-angle solution, use a cable to be safe.
