50 miles and score. Reviewed by a real mom who bought Bob Alterrain PRO

TLDR: This is a review of the BOB Alterrain PRO model 2020. I am a real life mom of a 7 month old baby who paid for this stroller myself. In the numbered paragraphs below you will find my tips/recommendations/thoughts on common complaints I've read about when purchasing this stroller. It costs money, just be prepared to take care of a few minor quirks early in the build and you'll be fine. FOR: Almost everything; CONS, it's heavy and big, but that makes it durable. I can fit it in the back of our Hyundai Palisade with the 3rd row halfway down. Opens and closes very easily. My husband assembled the stroller himself in about 30 minutes*** I waited until my pediatrician recommended that jogging was safe before purchasing the stroller. ***GENERAL: I recommend this stroller, I enjoy using it, yes it was expensive, but I am much happier now that I have the freedom to go out and take my baby - we can walk, jog and hike. Being able to exercise gives me a huge advantage both physically and emotionally. I walk. A LOT OF. At any time of the day and in any weather. Now I'm running to lose that weight during my pregnancy. I need a stroller that will meet my needs and keep my little one safe and comfortable. I need a well ventilated stroller as summers are brutal in the Washington area. Our Chicco stroller was a heat sink that made our daughter miserable. As a fitness stroller, it wasn't very good either. I researched strollers for three months before I bought the Alterrain PRO. In the end, I chose the BOB Alterrain Pro over the Thule because I needed a sturdier, all-terrain stroller that could handle the dirt dirt roads I love to take in the woods. I walk 35 miles a week for exercise, mostly on residential streets, do stroller workouts for socially distanced moms on the local route to school BUT, deep down, hiking is my passion and I need a stroller that can handle it. Having taken the Alterrain on a family trip to a nearby lake that has unpaved, rough forest trails, I can safely say that the Bob Alterrain Pro handles all surfaces very well and our daughter has never complained since I bought this stroller . She falls asleep in it.1. Yes, there is a creak, but WD40 with a long nozzle fixed everything! It may take a few tries to find the right spot, but I solved this problem by dabbing WD40 on all the exposed metal parts and a little on the spots where all the wheels attach to the frame. Sometimes the creaking mysteriously returns after driving on very rough terrain, e.g. B. on unpaved forest roads. A hard press on the brake while moving the stroller forward each time fixes it.2. Complaint about the handbrake: Yes, it is difficult to use when you first buy it BECAUSE the brake cable is still "open", the connections have to be screwed on or the brake doesn't work like a bicycle handbrake. . This is a very simple solution: when assembling the stroller, make sure that the silver brake cable connectors behind the brake handle are fully screwed in. Snapping is okay. It's not the best brake in the world, but it will slow down the stroller to help you steer.3. Tires: Tires need to be inflated after you receive the stroller. They are shipped uninflated. Just like a bicycle, they need to be charged. Be sure to buy an air pump with an L-shaped shutter nozzle, which is clamped, panning is inconvenient. EARLY MORNING/NIGHT SAFETY: Okay, BOB, that could really use some improvement. This stroller is not very visible in the dark from the front or rear, so I made additional improvements myself with reflective tape. The convertible top must be opened (lowered) so that the reflective strip is visible. Otherwise the front of the stroller is not visible in the dark! So I bought a roll of high-visibility marine-grade waterproof tape and taped it to key spots on the frame, ESPECIALLY around the front wheel area where the stroller should sit at the edge of the curb, and around all of the edges where the frame wraps around the baby. Although I did this and wore a safety vest while walking (see photo), the cars didn't brake until the last second. I invest for myself in an LED bicycle headlight and a sidecar rear light as well as an illuminated running vest. In the photo in the dark is the stroller after modifications basket: the zipper is good. I wish the basket was longer, when the seat is fully "down" it is difficult to access. Seat: cannot be raised to allow the child to sit fully. It's a bit uncomfortable and may be a problem for some children, I know my daughter is on her way to being able to sit on her own and she always wants to look around in the stroller. Run wheel lock mode: works well. Very stable and presses very well. I've only walked her a few times, I'm getting used to walking with a stroller and it takes some work. I don't walk directly behind her, I walk alongside her and squeeze her with one hand on a flat, smooth surface to allow her fuller body movement. The unlocked wheel (swivel mode) is very manoeuvrable, I use the stroller almost exclusively in this mode. So far I haven't experienced any "death wobble" or anything like that from the front wheel, everything works fine and smoothly. Our daughter is 18 pounds and I also put small dumbbells in the stroller basket for a total workout of about 12 pounds. Pushing a 30kg stroller is easy and I can easily maneuver it with one hand. Stroller Maneuverability: Fits perfectly through standard doorways in our home. The turning radius is very small, which is good when cornering and in tight spaces. 5 point harness: Very secure BUT our daughter is already trying to figure out how to jump out of this thing. She was also the baby that ALL the nurses in the hospital avoided, as a newborn they called her Houdini. To later determine when she is strong enough to open the latch. Now she can't open it, but she studies it every time we put her in the stroller! We bought a Chicco car seat adapter but haven't used it yet. I bought a BOB brand steering console and regretted it, a normal one would have been enough. Do not put anything heavy in it, otherwise the stroller may tip over backwards.
