Review on ๐Ÿชต Woodstock D3805 Bowl Gouge 8 Inch: Perfect Tool for Precise Woodworking by Keith Gonzales

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Ah, it's like a hollowed out bowl.

This 5/8" cutter has some significant problems, starting with the design. The steel may be tool steel, but it is a SOFT tool steel that sharpens and dulls quickly. flat, short, and the initial sharpening is useless. The tip is decorative as it is made of thinly coated steel. Nevertheless I have resharpened the tool and it has gained a very good edge and will (in its short life) be a useful tool. I say short life because with my sharpener the flute is used as a reference and the flute is so short mine is the steel ran out in less than an inch. If price is paramount and you have the right tools to resharpen to your liking, this could work. If you don't want to mess with it and re-sharpen it (repeat), maybe you should spend a little more money on a tool that's already profiled for sharpening with a decent steel nail.

Pros
  • Power & Hand Tools
Cons
  • Vulgarity
