Review on 🚲 Wald Universal Kickstand: Sturdy Support for 16-Inch Wheel Bikes by Tim Evans

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Actually, it's suitable for kids bikes with 16 " wheels!

I'm usually too lazy to check everything I buy online, but in this case I make an exception because this stand is great for kids bikes is. with 16" wheels and these are hard to find. My son rides a Schwinn Koen with 16" wheels and like most kids bikes this size it comes without a kickstand because they expect you to use training wheels. Previously my son had a balance bike that he rode and from a tricycle to pedals so he had already learned how to balance and pedal even before he got his bike and rode it 20 minutes after he got it on christmas day and i still haven't put training wheels on it., the schwinn website didn't have it, and all the other footpegs i found that said they were for bikes with 16" wheels p ate had numerous customer reviews stating that they actually didn't. . I found and tried this one, installed it today and it works great! Bike frame geometry varies, so be aware of the clearance between the bottom of the bike frame (at the footpeg attachment point) and the ground. Check out the product images for the different stands you will find which contain a chart showing how tall the stand needs to be for the stand to work. Two minor flaws: 1) On my son's bike, the tip of the kickstand touches the frame. quite a bit if you put it down. Your mileage depends on the exact frame geometry of the bike you mount it on. I solved this problem fairly easily by taking some foam rubber (the packaging for the unused training wheels that came with the bike) and tape around the point on the frame where the tip met so it's now padded. See image included in this review. 2) Came without installation instructions. I've attached a whole bunch of pictures of the setup I made, which may or may not be correct, but seem to work. Need a 9/16" wrench or socket to fit the center footpeg mount that comes with my kid's bike. I noticed that some other reviews have pointed out that the footrest is difficult to move. It's difficult but my 5 year old can do it with his foot no matter what it takes. All in all a great short footpeg for short bikes. Especially nice considering they are so hard to find.
