Our house is 21 years old. The original fan/light switch failed completely when we changed the bulbs to LED. We bought this switch to replace the original. It was very easy to install. The fan part works, but logically the other way around. The first position from off is the fastest fan position. If you go up, the position farthest from "off" is the lowest fan speed. However, it works. But there is no light switch. It's way better than the old switch, but it needs to be on or fully dimmed to work properly. The middle dimming makes the light flicker. A high position is also okay. The full dark position is not very dark at all. It's still nice and bright. We want to live with that because we can control the fan speed and we usually want the light to be at full brightness. It's just not a very high quality switch.
