Works well as a recorder with Media Player Classic

This is a very reliable recorder with picture-in-picture capabilities. After running 1 (or more) HDMI cables through your device, you can set up the media application of your choice to receive a signal through the USB-C port. I chose Media Player Classic because it comes with the K-Light codec pack, which I install on every computer. No matter which signal processing software you use, you select the video source "MiraBox Cideo Capture" and the audio source "Digital Audio Interface (2-Mirabox Video Capture)" in the settings of any media player or recording software. You can then simply view the live stream on your device as if it were already a video by going to the File menu and selecting Open device. Once opened, you can customize the encoding and/or recording options. I didn't really understand what software is required or how these encoders work until I got this device. The fact that USB-C creates common settings for video and audio devices. that you can access it with any software was a surprise. The instructions are simple and can be adapted to the software of your choice. (Media Player Classic wasn't mentioned in the instructions but I figured out how it works and was able to set it up). The instructions are pretty easy if you can read the small text. Semi-technical folks have it easier as you may have to do a bit of work. If you're seeing errors even though everything seems to be set up correctly, try restarting your computer using Capture's USB-C channel. I can't explain why, but sometimes I have to reboot (or disconnect and reconnect USB-C) if I haven't opened a tape from the capture window for days. It might just be me, but rebooting is always a good troubleshooting step. Overall I'm happy with it. The hardware video feed has some artifacts over large areas of solid color, but that's okay. I wouldn't call it immaculate or flawless, but it's definitely above average. borders on excellent.
