I bought this camera hot shoe grip to try video recording with my mirrorless Sony A6k DSLR. It's affordable but takes up a lot less room in my backpack than a large U-mount or large rounded square mount that attaches to a tripod mount. I've always been wary of using a hot shoe as a mount, but this guy doesn't get in the way of my tilting screen. I can easily mount a small pistol mic, small LED light or ring light controller with shoe mounts and attach a power supply or external HDMI field monitor to the handle if needed. I appreciate that this grip can use 1/4-20 threaded holes to add more or if I ever want to change the direction of the grip for balance or any other reason. It's also nice to know that if I ever want to pick up or use a steadicam or gimbal on a tripod, my camera's tripod mount is still open so I can still use it to mount a few accessories. The build quality is good and durable. I have small hands so a short grip isn't a problem, but I see it as a problem for people with large hands or if your shoe accessories are bulky or protrude backwards blocking part of the grip. It snaps securely into place without wobbling or worrying about it dangling freely under normal conditions.
