I live in the country and used a flat antenna in the window. Channels that I could receive turned on and off. A friend in Durham has AT&T fiber and recommends this antenna for her local channels. This antenna isn't cheap, but I figured if AT&T recommends it, I'll give it a try. That works great. Channels that used to flicker are now shown with 5 bars, always clear. I also use an amp I bought at Walmart. But be aware that if you live in a rural area like me, you probably won't get all the channels you want. I live an hour north of Raleigh, NC, but I can't receive Channel 11 (ABC) or Channel 17 (CBS) and I don't think there is an antenna on the market that will give me those channels. But when the weather is clear, I receive WITN channel 7 (and its 6 sub-channels) from Washington, NC, which is 100 miles from my home. So I would recommend this antenna but be aware that if you live in a rural area you probably won't get everything. A friend of mine in Durham (45 miles away) who has AT&T cable and fiber gets 57 channels from her antenna. I get 24
