Before that, I wore BeatsX for four years; however, they malfunctioned after only two, and I opted to get Beats Flex in order to take advantage of the warranty. After using it for a few days, I can tell with confidence that it has a 6-hour longer battery life than X. When compared to X, the bass is slightly more prominent here. The sound, though, is virtually identical. The lack of a traditional control panel in favor of housing all of the necessary components near the battery pack may take some getting used to, but this is ultimately a minor quibble. Construction-wise, they're clearly inferior than X, but I suspect the same issues would arise there as well. Black ones are not recommended because they give off an unprofessional vibe; instead, opt for colored or white ones. A convenient function is that the music will stop playing if you magnetize your ears.
