Review on πŸ’™ Kohler BLUE PART GP85160 Flapper with Float, 2 Inch by David Plunkett

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Great and worthwhile concept, difficult and time consuming to install.

The Kohler GP85160 damper appears to last a number of years before it no longer fits in the opening it is designed to safely close. The first time a replacement was needed (we have 4 toilets) it was my regular plumber who took care of it. He replaced the damper with a third-party model without a float. I noticed that the toilet flushed differently - when flushed, all the water drained out of the tank. With the help of a float, you can control how much water flows out when rinsing. Flushing quickly uses a small amount of water. Holding down the flush lever will use more water depending on how long you hold it down, and holding it long enough will empty the entire water tank. In the picture you can see the chain on both sides of the light blue float. Depending on how much water you want to dispense in one quick flush, adjust the length of the chain on either side of the light blue float. If you only have a short chain between the flapper and the float, a lot of water will come out in a quick flush. If you have a long stretch of circuit between the flapper and the float, less water will be released during a quick flush. When you need a better flush, just hold the lever down until you see the desired result in the bowl. It is difficult and time consuming to adjust the chain to the correct length on both sides. If the overall length of the chain is too long, the flushing arm will be loosened. If the overall chain length is too short, the shock will not close properly. Once you have adjusted the chains to your liking, the next time you replace the flapper you can reuse the light blue float and its chains as the flapper is worn out.
