The magnets used in this guide are VERY strong. They are surrounded/embedded in a VERY soft, sticky plastic which combined with a very strong magnet makes the guide difficult to position. In fact, without the "lift" tab on one end, I wouldn't be able to remove the guide from the needle plate using just my fingers. To make the guide workable I had to tape a piece of cardboard cut from a cereal box to the bottom of the guide, covering the soft plastic around the magnet so the guide could be positioned on the needle plate. The attached photo shows the rail easily lifting two 1 pound mounting blocks that are too strong for their intended purpose. With the stickiness of the plastic surrounding the magnet, an 8 ounce magnet would have been sufficient.
