Weather conditions for education and upbringing

That was a really cool project! All 5 of my butterflies hatched. I gave it 4 stars because I can't recall anywhere mentioning the highest temperatures they can withstand. I went to free them and 1/5 survived. The temp was 111 :( I never thought it could be too hot for them. It was a sunny day and 3 days after hatching they were ready. I plan to try again later in cooler weather. I was very sad and felt terrible that they didn't make it. I think my kids did better than me! So pay attention toโ€ฆ

Great experience!

My daughter loves this set! We order our tracks, a week later we receive them and start the process. My 3rd year was so active! No problem for the parents, just let the caterpillars do their thing once they have formed cocoons, take them to the shelter and watch them turn into butterflies. We gave them a few pieces of watermelon every day and after admiring them for a few days, we released them. They stopped to give my daughter some love before picking up. It was a very sweet and specialโ€ฆ

  • Not everything fits

Big and skinny, not worth the price - these caterpillars aren't really free.

Save money by buying a competitor's product at a lower price but in a much larger size. This product is better built but has shrunk in size in recent years so it is still tall but very narrow. I was shocked at how much smaller it is than others I've bought and I won't be buying any other. It would also be great if they offered this set with a choice of two of the most important life cycle models of butterflies that people display at school - Monarchs and Painted Lady. I love this company andโ€ฆ

It was a really easy project that came with tutorial material for my .

My son got them as a birthday present and it was a great success. We were able to watch the caterpillars in the calyx as they weave their cocoons and eventually emerge from them. It was a very easy project full of educational material for my curious preschooler. He thought it was the coolest when we finally released them. All but one emerged from the cocoon in turn. One of them was never able to spread its wings even though it was alive and apparently fine. We released it along with the others.

Pros
  • Lots of positive emotions
Cons
  • Not the best

My kids love this butterfly set. We've done this before and every morning they wake up and run outside to check the progress. My only concern is that the last time I did this with my kids, the cost of the tracks was included in the price of the set. We sent a postcard and a few days later the caterpillars arrived. Now you have to pay a small processing fee when requesting tracks. I gave several of these sets as Christmas gifts and had to put $7.95 in each box so the parents didn't have to payโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Absolutely amazing!
Cons
  • No instructions

I bought this as a gift for my 5 year old daughter who became interested in butterflies at age 4 and had a caterpillar/butterfly habitat in her preschool class. The kit includes information on how to order caterpillars online, as well as instructions on how to raise and care for the caterpillars in the butterfly net/garden. Honestly, if you do everything that was so easy according to the instructions, you will successfully breed your caterpillars, watch them change and be amazed at what they go

Pros
  • Great for me
Cons
  • Reliable

Should have! - Habitat

This is actually our second one we've bought and I'm so happy to see it in a larger version. My daughter has been wearing her original for over 5 years now and at 11 she still wears it almost every day in warm weather. She mainly uses it on butterflies but has also been known to catch other random bugs and it works for her too. I was very surprised at how well it has survived the entire period of use. The zipper on the door still works, like the first day the folding shape holds up andโ€ฆ
