I was afraid I wouldn't like these socks when I saw the design had changed. I have worn Hanes black cushions and they have always served me well. .The new design is three materials: the bottom is not only thicker, there's a softer fabric, and the upper is now a lighter, more pliable, and more breathable material, like my Tec training shirts. The ankle appears to be the same old material as always. As I said, I was afraid I wouldn't like the new design and would have to find a new brand and style to replace my worn out socks, but I love them. They fit snugly and are more comfortable in dress shoes than in old shoes, even new ones. Dare when they wear out.
