This mirror has a slightly convex shape. This prevents it from being placed on your car's mirror. The kit includes a plastic stand that must be used to mount this mirror. The base also allows you to rotate the mirror to best suit your needs. You can see how I positioned and where I installed my mirror in the attached photos. You can also see the gap behind the mirror caused by the mounting base. With the mirror mount I have, you can see any car or vehicle approaching your blind spot, but that's a limited view. You won't see the whole car if it's in your blind spot, but you can tell there's a car there. I've always used round mirrors in the past (with great success), but I wanted to try this one too.
