I bought this DSi for my niece to replace the one my mum bought her in 2009. Although I bought a used console it works great and I think it's a testament to the console's longevity. While the technology may be a bit dated by today's standards, it still has some great tech (other than the ability to play games) that my 17-year-old niece still uses to some extent. - The camera and the "distortion effects" it's capable of are still interesting. When she received the gift for the first time in 2009, she/we had a lot of fun to make crazy pictures with different effects. We, I found it still fun to play around with even though technologically it has been outperformed by many of the now (2016) available apps for smartphones and tablets. Otherwise it's still fun and functional, and photos can be stored either on the device or on an SD card, which isn't included but will fit any SD card up to 32GB. The internet can also be used as a last resort, but times have changed a lot. and she prefers her laptop and smartphone for internet purposes. Overall I am very happy with my purchase as is my niece. She is still able to play her large collection of games without buying a 3DS, causing her to travel sick, and has shown no interest in the Nintendo 2DS. She loves this one as much as her original and that made the biggest difference for me. Proven durability based on the lifespan of your original DSi, that's the icing on the cake. This console eventually became one of the "classic games" of her childhood, as did the NES (Nintendo Entertainment System) console for me and her father.
