Works but has some frustrating quirks

I am using this product to connect directly to my subwoofer (Pair 12 Power) which has a speaker amp feedthrough in my car. This way I connect my phone directly to the sound system without the hassle of the head unit. I love that this unit is connected to a key switch so when the car is turned off the unit turns off as my last bluetooth dongle didn't have that feature and my phone was always trying to connect when I had to home was. It works without any problems when I turn on the car, after about 5 seconds it calls to tell me that it is connected to my phone. Perfect. The sound quality is good, there is no obvious distortion in my subwoofers or speakers even at fairly good volumes. Now for my complaints: 1. A bit annoying that there were no instructions included but at least the product photos had a schematic.2. If you're still playing music and turning the buttons off, which disables Bluetooth, there's a fairly authoritative "pop" sound that's not exactly pleasant, especially with decent subwoofers.3. The Worst Problem: When your phone connects to this device, you never know where the bluetooth volume will be. If you don't adjust the volume BEFORE playing music, the music will almost always play at maximum volume for almost a full second, which feels like forever when your ears bleed and your subwoofers distort and try to smash windows, and then back to the Bluetooth volume that was set when it was last paired. If it isn't, sometimes the default Bluetooth volume will set to the maximum and stay at that level, and other times it will just go straight to the previously set Bluetooth volume. Incredibly annoying and I'm afraid it will blow up my subwoofers/speakers if I turn up the volume. I always turn the volume down before turning off my stereo to make sure it doesn't get loud next time, but with this unit you have to make sure and turn the volume down EVERY TIME you plug it in, even if you're off your Stereo jump car to take something and then come back. It still works at maximum volume.
