Review on πŸ‘‹ HARKEN Anti-Drop One-Person Self-Leveling Material Handling Products, Shelves, and Racking Systems by Jeremy Carpenter

Revainrating 2 out of 5

Ratchet wears FAST, poor customer service.

Update: Harken said they would send a replacement for the prematurely worn elevator. They were very enthusiastic about the customer care until I changed my review to reflect what I consider good customer service, then they suddenly lost interest and never sent a replacement. If you want an expensive elevator that is rarely used, this is a good choice. Otherwise, a tiny important part is made of soft material and wears out quickly, and you have to replace the entire lift at least once a season. One trick is to sharpen the new edge of the ratchet with a needle file to get some more life out of the jack. I am in the process of switching to another brand for my normal usage situation. Overall I like this elevator. Easy to install, durable, easy to use. But. The ratchet is inexpensive and is made of soft cast magnesium or zinc, so the teeth wear out quickly. a season before he slips. It's not a cheap system if you have to replace it every year. If you only store a rarely used bike, no problem. You can't just buy a block with a riveted ratchet. They can send me a new ratchet reel but I really would rather not bargain this year and I suspect I won't be able to go back to them every year for a replacement. You need to make a ratchet out of a material as soft as nylon rope and THEN it's perfect.
