Review on Black SHIMANO SPD-SL PD-R540 Cycling Pedals by Michael Harden

These are the first SPD-SL pedals I've ever used. I have used various SPD pedals including the A-600 pedals which are very good. My shoes were mountain bike shoes. I recently bought a Bontrager Circuit shoe that is compatible with both spikes. I didn't feel stable walking with SPD cleats so I bought these pedals. There is a clear difference. I wish I had a power meter to measure the difference in applied power but it feels better which is worth the price. Running has improved - I wouldn't want to run a mile in it, but I could. The only thing I worry about is the tension of letting go. Even at low voltage, it's fairly firm and makes a loud click when released. It will probably get better with use.
