Review on BSOD Controller Multi Function Programmable Switch LED by Angela Patra

Revainrating 5 out of 5

In use for 3 years, very reliable.

I am using the 4 channels of this controller to drive 4.3 foot sections of LEDs for my aquarium. I use it on 12v and it works great and handles a lot of current. I've been using it every day since 2018 to turn on my aquarium lights and it still works. I programmed it to simulate a partly cloudy day so my lights don't run at full power all day. Each channel just fades up and down on a fairly random schedule that I set up. The only real problem I've found is that when programmed to fade in and out it can sometimes decide to show the channel at full brightness for a few seconds and then go back to normal. I have quite a complex program setup and to be honest I've never taken the time to troubleshoot when it's caused by my program or device, but it definitely looks like a bug in the device. It only seems to happen once a day or so (usually in the afternoon for me) and usually at the same time (hard to catch a device doing something for just a few seconds a day). The programming software itself isn't entirely crystal clear anyway, and it's hard to tell how it will behave, for example, mixing fade with spikes, etc. All of my complaints about this device are actually related to the programming software, not the device itself. It takes a bit of getting used to, but as I said, I'm actually running a fairly complex program with it, so I can't complain too much. For the most part, if you take the time to figure it out, you can let it do what you want. Pros: Handles a lot of power. Very reliable. does not support Linux. Programs can get a little buggy depending on what you're doing. Overall, this is a great little device and well worth the price.

Pros
  • This dimmer controller can control a variety of LED changing effects on up to five channels. It can be used to illuminate plants, light boxes, stages, home decorations, etc.
Cons
  • Big and Bulky
