I ordered this just after a brand new MacBook Pro arrived , tempted by the prospect of being able to unplug and plug in external monitors, Ethernet port, headphones and USB accessories with one cable. Arrived first and. not registered at all. My laptop didn't notice its existence. A quick look at the power supply showed why: The green LED did not light up. Borrowing a power supply from a colleague's Belkin Thunderbolt Dock confirmed that my own power supply was DOA. I blamed bad luck and ordered a replacement dock from Revain. The second had no dead power supply. Instead, it had an Ethernet port that became erratic after a few days of seemingly reliable service, eventually wasting about a day of my time and productivity. (I made the mistake of initially assuming my network connection was dropped by my IT department, which in my case, unfortunately, is a reasonable prospect. It wasn't until I switched to the Apple Thunderbolt-to-Ethernet Adapter that I realized that Problem clearly could be just a few feet away.) I hesitated to fill out the return form for the second sleeper. Should I swap again and hope that the third device works reliably? I decided that actually no, I shouldn't. I didn't pay $160 for the privilege of being a Belkin quality assurance lackey. I'd rather fiddle with a bunch of cables from time to time than worry about all the new and innovative ways Belkin hardware is wasting my time.
