Hinge design issue Best in computers and tablets

This is a mid-range Chromebook so I was expecting it to be some kind of "one-off" device, but this thing is less than broke 3 months easy use. The screen hinge is covered with a small piece of plastic from below. I suspect the hinge was too tight and the "stress" of closing the screen broke the glued plastic hinge mount. As a result, the frame buckled and the screen broke just above the hinge. Called Lenovo Tech Support, waited forever, gave them the model number and said it was a Chromebook. They wanted more information about the device, so they asked me to press the Windows key and run a command! LAUGH OUT LOUD! So I explained again that this is a Chromebook and not a Windows laptop. At that point they said they needed to be taken to a repair center. I drove 40 miles to a repair center and a week later received a call stating that due to physical damage, regardless of the cause, Lenovo would not perform warranty repairs. The repair technician also said that Lenovo doesn't stock replacement parts even to fix the device, and if they were in stock, it would cost $600 to fix the $400 device. So just a note to folks, would I get an extended warranty or be willing to scrap the unit. Because if it breaks, there are no parts, no warranty and of course no help from Lenovo. Wanted to post an update: I just picked up the device from the repair shop. As others have said if you look closely at the right hand hinge there is no pin/support on the inside of the hinge. Left loop in the form of a pin on both sides. I have two of these and I have confirmed that both are constructed the same. This stresses this area when the device is closed and will eventually fail. The repair center can't even get the parts because Lenovo won't ship them until the device's warranty expires from the original release date. So I had to deal with a $400 Chromebook with Lenovo. not worth my time Sorry, Revain sells this on a master account and will not refund or replace.
